WHAT MAKES RAPID ROLL® DOORS THE BEST HIGH-SPEED DOORS IN THE WORLD?

Rapid Roll® Doors are fast! Ordinary doors are bottlenecks, keeping workers and materials waiting until they slowly creep open. Rapid Roll Doors open and close in as little as 2.2 seconds, to keep traffic flowing and goods moving.

Rapid Roll® Doors are virtually maintenance-free. Unlike conventional overhead doors, Rapid Roll Doors do not use costly chains or sprockets. Their remarkably durable construction and revolutionary fabric reduce downtime and expensive repairs.

So sensitive it won't crack an egg, the Contactless Safety Edge^TM automatically stops a door from hitting objects in its path - before contact is made. Extremely reliable, it checks itself each time it opens.

Full Vision Panel^TM allows a *complete view of objects or people approaching the door* from either side. The panel is made of clear PVC, measures a full 24" (610mm) high and covers the entire width of the door. Rapid Roll's simple and ingenious counterbalance and tensioning system gives the door a precise balance, provides excellent tensioning of the door panel as well as superior wind resistance.

COMPONENTS OF THE MODEL 670 RAPID ROLL® DOOR

1. PATENTED COUNTERBALANCE AND TENSIONING SYSTEM

The internally mounted counterbalance and tensioning system is the very heart of our fast-acting door. The pulleys are constructed of a high-impact, injection-molded polymer and contain two permanently sealed, lubricated ball bearings. Pre-stretched, self-lubricating, steel aircraft cables work in conjunction with alloy 319 die-cast aluminium cable drums.

2. VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE DOOR PANEL

The chemical, weather and puncture resistant Rolltex^TM door blade material is tough. Constructed of a double-layer of woven polyester monofilament coated and impregnated with PVC, it is not seamed, spliced or joined.

The fabric g-i-v-e-s on contact and restores itself immediately. It's capable of sustaining impacts of up to 3,000 lbs./in2 (210 kg/cm2) and has a tensile strength of 2,200 lbs/in (105 kg/cm2) crosswise. Rolltex^TM is available in five standard colors (orange, blue, brown, grey and white), is easy to clean and is guaranteed for five (5) full years.

3. PROTECTIVE TOP ROLL

The Model 670's door panel rolls up on an 11-gauge ASTM 513 steel tube. This heavy duty tube is sized for maximum deflection of .01 in./ft. (.078 mm/m) and maximum overall deflection of .20 inches (5 mm). A nylon brush serves as the top seal.

4. HEAVY-DUTY BOTTOM BEAM

The rigid, low-profile bottom beam is made of anodized extruded aluminium alloy 6063 either 4.25 or 6.5 inches (108 mm or 165 mm) high, depending on door size and windload. The steel tensioning cable is attached to 10-gauge zinc-plated steel brackets at each end of the bottom beam.

5. INNOVATIVE CONTACTLESS SAFETY EDGE™

The Contactless Safety Edge^TM helps stop accidents before they can happen, while permitting extremely fast door speeds. The sensitive through-beam photocells travel up and down with the door. If an object is detected, the door reverses immediately before contact. During each opening cycle, the system monitors itself. If it finds a malfunction or blockage, it remains open until reset.

6. IMPACT RELEASE SYSTEM™

The optional Impact Release System^TM prevents downtime and damage to your doors and equipment. The bottom beam is designed with a special clevis and tang mechanism. At the moment of impact, the connection releases and a kill switch automatically stops the door motor. It can be easily reset - no special tools required.

7. HEAVY-DUTY SIDE FRAMES

The 12- and 14-gauge self-supporting gavanneal steel side frames are standard and feature hinged steel covers that protect the balance and tension system. Also standard are front and rear channel guides for use with windbars. Double nylon brushes located in the side frames provide an excellent weather seal around the sides of the door.

Steel frames painted in silver, blue or brown are standard, custom colors are available. The easy-to-remove covers are low-profile and won't corrode or trust.

8. INGENIOUS CONTROL PANEL

Low maintenance. High reliability. The Model 670 features a state-of-the-art, self-diagnostic control panel. All control panels meet NEMA 4 requirements. All panels are UL (File #E103891) and CSA listed. Using a programmable logic controller (PLC), control panel features a cycle counter, emergency stop and push button.

9. IN-LINE PHOTOCELLS

In-line photocells prevent the door from closing when an object is in the doorway.

10. REVOLUTIONARY ALL-STAR™ DRIVE

Each Model 670 is equipped with a 100% solid state All-Star^TM Drive for maximum efficiency and productivity. This computer controlled system has a soft start/soft stop feature that virtually eliminates jarring starts or stops for less wear and downtime. The door can be programmed to operate at speeds up to 100" per second (2.54m2).

The All-Star^TM Drive eliminates the need for couplings, a clutch and a stopping brake. It's now possible to set the door limits right from the control panel, with just a touch of a button! The entire system is continuously monitored using an optical encoder to register the door's exact location.

The All-Star^TM Drive installs quickly and easily. Its compact size lets it fit where conventional drives won't. It can be mounted on either side of the door and it is quieter than other conventional drives.
