GENERAL
Pflow Series FM Vertical Lifts move
materials between two levels. Principal components are guide
columns, carriage and hydraulic actuating mechanism.
APPLICATION DATA
Please specify your application
requirements:
Lifting Capacity:____lbs.
Carriage Size:___"W x ___"L x ___"H
Vertical Rise:____'____"
NOTE: Series FM Vertical Lifts are available with: Lifting
capacities to 6,000 lbs; Carriage sizes to 10' x 10'; Vertical
rise to 20'. Standard travel speed is 18 fpm. Travel speeds up
to 35 fpm are available on special order.
STRUCTURE
Guide columns are 6" roll-formed
sections. Carriage is fabricated of 4" or 6"
structural members with steel deck plate. Other deck surfaces
can be supplied. Carriage is available in straddle or cantilever
styles.
OPERATION
Carriage is lifted and lowered by
direct-acting hydraulic cylinders operating in a pull mode.
Cylinders are actuated by a remote mounted hydraulic pump.
Transmission of the lifting force is direct from the top of the
columns to the carriage using a TruPull cylinder. FM Lift has no
cables, chains or other flexible lifting means that require
safety cams to prevent unintentional descent of carriage.
ELECTRICAL
Standard power requirements are 208V/
230V/460V, 3-phase. Control voltage is 24V. Control stations and
remote mounted control panel are NEMA 12. Control stations,
provided for each level, include self-maintaining, push buttons
with mushroom-head E-Stop button.

SAFETY FEATURES
Upward travel of the carriage is
limited by positive mechanical stops that assure positive
leveling with the upper deck. Redundant overload protection is
provided to positively prevent raising of the carriage if loaded
to more than 110% of rated capacity. Velocity fuses prevent
uncontrolled descent in case of hydraulic hose rupture. NO RIDER
signs are posted at each point of operation. Optional DeckLocks
available.
CARRIAGE & SAFETY
ENCLOSURES
Carriage is equipped with safety
rails on non-operating ends and safety chains or diagonal drop
bars on operating ends. Optional expanded metal or sheet metal
carriage enclosures are available. Mandatory safety enclosures
provide guarding on all sides of the lift. Enclosures are a
minimum of 8' high consisting of material which will reject a
ball 3/4" in diameter. Gates are provided for access during
loading/unloading. Gates are electrically and mechanically
interlocked with carriage movement. Interlock prevents a gate
from being opened unless the carriage is at the designated
level. Interlock also prevents carriage movement if any gate is
not fully closed and locked.
CODE GUARANTEE
Pflow vertical reciprocating
conveyors (VRC) are covered by the ANSI/ASME B20.1 code. Pflow
Industries has over 9000 vertical lifts installed in 50 states
-no Pflow unit has ever been shut down for lack of elevator code
compliance. We guarantee that should your Pflow VRC be sited for
lack of elevator code compliance - Pflow will help you solve the
conflict or repurchase the equipment at your full purchase
price.

SUBMITTALS
Pflow Industries provides general
arrangement drawings detailing your specific application
including plan and elevation views with dimensional information,
equipment specifications, and guarding requirements. An Owners
Manual with complete parts list, recommended spare parts list,
maintenance instructions and troubleshooting guide is also
provided.
INSTALLATION
Comprehensive installation
instructions and electrical schematics are provided for proper
installation of Pflow vertical reciprocating conveyors. Pflow
will also provide technical support so that equipment is
properly installed and guarded per ANSI/ASME B20.1 to ensure
safe, efficient operation.
STRADDLE CARRIAGE
Pflow lifts are normally designed to be loaded/unloaded from the
front or back (between columns). With Pflow straddle carriages,
the support columns are placed on either side of the carriage.
Straddle configuration balances the load on the carriage and
keeps column loads essentially in compression. Loads on guides
and rollers are minimal.
CANTILEVERED CARRIAGE
If required by application, the carriage can be cantilevered to
allow loading/unloading from the side. With cantilevered
carriages, the support columns are placed on one side of the
carriage to allow loading/unloading at 90° angles. This
requires heavier structure and guide wheel components. Carriage
size and capacity are limited by the unbalanced load condition.
With large carriages or high capacity applications, the carriage
thickness is increased thereby requiring a deeper pit for proper
installation.
